Men's Tennis wins 9-0 at Heidelberg to open OAC schedule

TIFFIN — Sophomores Alex Starr and Alex Genbauffe each posted 6-0, 6-0 singles wins to lead the Ohio Northern men's tennis team to a 9-0 victory at heidelberg Saturday afternoon at the Heidelberg Tennis Courts in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
The Polar Bears improve to 2-5 overall and are 1-0 in OAC action, while the Student Princes fall to 0-6, 0-1.
Starr won at No. 2 singles and Genbauffe won at No. 6 singles for ONU.
Junior John Mostowy won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, senior Sam Prewitt won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, freshman Alex Altman won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles and freshman Gary Hess won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
In doubles play, Mostowy and Prewett won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles to improve their record to 6-1 on the season.
Starr and Altman won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles and Hess and Genbauffe won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Sunday when they host Wittenberg in a men's/women's double header at 1 pm at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center in Lima.
