Men's Tennis opens spring season with win over Hope (Mich.); loss to Kalamazoo (Mich.)

KALAMAZOO (Mich.) -- The Ohio Northern men's tennis team defeated Hope (Mich.) and fell to Kalamazoo (Mich.) to open its spring season on Saturday.
The Polar Bears stand at 1-1 on the season.
In the match against Hope (1-1), ONU won two of the three doubles courts.
Senior Josh Saunders and sophomore John Mostowy teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles and seniors Do Thai and Blake Troller won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action, Mostowy scored a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles and Saunders won 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 1 singles position.
Troller scored a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles and Thai posted a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles.
Against Kalamazoo (1-2), junior Sam Prewitt and freshman Alex Starr teamed up to notch the lone win for ONU, with a 9-7 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Saunders and Mostowy dropped a tight 8-6 match at No. 1 doubles.
Mostowy fell 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Mar. 2, when it plays its first match on its Spring Trip in Florida against Moravian (Pa.) at 4 pm.
