Prewitt leads Men's Tennis at Wittenberg Invitational

SPRINGFIELD -- Junior Sam Prewitt won his respective singles and doubles flight to lead the Ohio Northern men's tennis team at the season opening Wittenberg Invitational.
The tournament was unscored.
Prewitt won the Green Singles flight, winning three matches along the way.
He topped Jared Gerber of Cedarville 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals, Gian DiMichelangelo of Capital in the semifinals 6-3, 6-3 and Tyler Strong of Wittenberg 6-1, 6-2 in the finals.
He also teamed with senior Blake Troller to win the B Flight doubles, topping Jared Judson and DiMichelangelo 8-2 in the finals.
Sophomore J.T. Rapaport won the Orange Singles flight, topping Wittenberg's Tom Pinhas in the finals 6-1, 7-5.
Freshman Alex Starr won three matches along the way to the White Singles flight championship, defeating David Barton of Cedarville 6-3, 6-1 in the finals.
Starr teamed with freshman Alex Genbauffe to pick up a 8-5 win in doubles action.
Troller, Genebauffe and senior Josh Saunders also picked up a singles win on the weekend.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Sept. 27, when it takes part in the ITA Central Region Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich.
