ELKHORN (Wis.) -- The Ohio Northern men's tennis team saw their season end at the hands of No. 8 Trinity (Tex.) by a 5-0 score in the NCAA III Tournament second round on Saturday evening at Four Lakes Athletic Club.
The Polar Bears see their 17 match winning streak snapped and finish the year at 19-5. The Tigers are now 19-9 and will play No. 18 Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) in the regional finals on Sunday.
The match was moved indoors due to excessive winds in the area on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers swept all three doubles courts to begin play.
Senior Mike King and freshman John Mostowy lost a hard fought 8-5 decision at No. 2 doubles, while senior Joey Frank and junior Josh Saunders fell by an 8-4 score at No. 1 doubles.
In singles play, Saunders captured the first set buy a 6-1 score at No. 2 singles.
Frank was locked in a tight battle at No. 1 singles with nationally ranked Aaron Skinner when the match was stopped.
"I am very proud of our guys," said head coach Bob Rohan. "We left it all out there. It was an unforgettable season and these guys showed that they can compete with the top teams in the country."
