Men's Tennis defeats Concordia (Wis.) in First Round of NCAA III Tournament

WHITEWATER (Wis.) -- The Ohio Northern men's tennis team picked up a 5-0 win over Concordia (Wis.) on a chilly Friday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA III Tournament.
The Polar Bears have now won 17 straight matches and improve to 19-4 on the season. The Falcons end their season at 16-10.
ONU now advances to the second round and will face No. 8-ranked Trinity (Tex.) on Saturday afternoon at 3 pm CST.
Northern began play by sweeping all three doubles courts.
The tandem of freshman John Mostowy and junior Josh Saunders got the Polar Bears on the board first with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Sophomore Sam Prewitt and junior Blake Troller scored a 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles.
Senior Joey Frank and junior Do Thai erased a 5-7 deficit to pick up a 9-8 (4) win at No. 1 doubles to complete the sweep.
In singles play, Troller won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
Mostowy would clinch the match, with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 4 singles position.
"We came out a little bit slow today," said head coach Bob Rohan. "Once we got into a little bit of a flow, we started to play better. I am proud of the guys for picking up another NCAA win for the program."
ONU has now recorded a win the NCAA III Tournament in four of its five appearances.
