Men’s Tennis opens OAC play with 8-1 victory over John Carroll

ADA—The Ohio Northern men's tennis team opened its OAC slate with an 8-1 victory over John Carroll Saturday afternoon at the University Tennis Courts.
ONU now is 3-3 on the season and 1-0 in OAC while the Blue Streaks fall to 3-8, 1-1.
The Polar Bears swept all three doubles courts to begin play.
Sophomores Josh Saunders and Do Thai started off the afternoon by winning 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.
Seniors Andrew Korba and Nick Kowalczyk also scored an 8-4 victory at No. 3 doubles over Michael Hulseman and Peter Scanniello.
Junior Joey Frank and senior Michael Kathary finished off the sweep with an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Northern continued to pile up the victories in singles action.
Saunders scored a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles while Thai won at No. 3 singles by a 6-0, 6-1 score over Rico Certo.
Sophomore Blake Troller notched a win at No. 6 singles by a 6-1, 6-3 score.
Frank defeated Sean Graham at No. 2 singles by a 6-1, 6-1 score while Kowalczyk rounded out the victories by winning at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-4.
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Wednesday when they travel to face off against Division II Walsh on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
