Men's Tennis falls to Coe (Iowa) 5-4 on Spring Trip
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team lost a tough 5-4 battle to regionally ranked Coe (Iowa) Tuesday evening at Sanlando Park.
The Polar Bears are now 0-3 on the year while the Cohawks now stand at 12-2.
Northern began play by taking two of the three doubles courts.
Junior Joey Frank and senior Michael Kathary posted a dominating 8-3 victory over the nationally ranked tandem of Noah Sprinkel and Curtis Newman.
Sophomore's Do Thai and Josh Saunders notched a tight 9-8 (3) win at the No. 2 position
In singles play, Saunders and Kathary would pick up victories.
Kathary won in three sets for the second consecutive day at No. 2 singles by 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Saunders was victorious at No. 5 singles over Mike Woolf by a 7-6 (2), 6-2 score.
ONU will be in action again on Thursday when they face off against Berry (Ga.) at noon.
