Kowalczyk becomes 17th member of the 100 Win Club as Men’s Tennis tops Walsh 5-4

ADA — Junior Nick Kowalczyk became the 17th member of the 100 Win Club as the Ohio Northern men's tennis team beat NAIA foe Walsh by a 5-4 score Thursday afternoon at the University Courts.
Kowalczyk's 100th career win came at the No. 2 doubles spot and put the Polar Bears up 2-1 after doubles play.
Senior Jeff Carter and junior Andrew Korba were also victorious at No. 3 doubles by an 8-2 score.
"This was a great match for us to plat at this point in the season," said head coach Bob Rohan. "Walsh is an excellent team and gave us a really good test."
Singles play was tight throughout with two matches going three sets.
Carter put the Polar Bears up 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles over Louis Thomas.
With Ohio Northern in front 3-2, freshman Do Thai scored a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles over Mark Innes.
Sophomore Joey Frank clinched the match for the Polar Bears with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win over Diego Yung at No. 1 singles.
"All the matches on the courts were very tight today," Rohan added. "I like the way our guys responded to the pressure and made adjustments throughout."
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Friday when they host Muskingum for a noon match.
