Men's Tennis wins key OAC battle over Baldwin-Wallace, 6-3

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's tennis team stayed unbreaten in Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon as it defeated Baldwin-Wallace in a hard fought 6-3 win at University Courts.
The Polar Bears improve to 10-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play while the Yellow Jackets move to 13-3 overall and 3-2 in the OAC.
With Ohio Northern ahead 4-3, freshman Joey Frank clinched the team victory when he finished off a 7-5, 6-4 win against Alex Trzeciak in No. 1 singles action.
"This was a very good and hard fought effort from our team today," Frank said. "This win keeps our regular season title hopes alive and we need to keep this winning streak going."
This was the Polar Bears' eighth consecutive win as a team.
Frank and sophomore Nick Kowalczyk defeated Matt Lachman and Andy Redd 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles match.
In No. 2 doubles, junior Jeff Carter and sophomore Andrew Korba won 8-2 against Trzeciak and Taylor Long.
In No. 2 singles, Kowalczyk provided the Polar Bears with their first singles victory on the afternoon when he won 6-2, 6-4 over Lachman.
Carter won 7-5, 6-4 in his No. 3 singles match against Redd.
In the final match, ONU freshman Mike King battled back to defeat Bobby Irwin in No. 6 singles play 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Ohio Northern is back in action on Monday as it travels to non-conference opponent Walsh at 3 pm.
