ADA — Ohio Northern freshman Jeremy Adams (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) has been tabbed the OAC Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The first-year swimmer captured an individual event title in the 200-yard breast on the final day of the Wooster Invitational, guiding the Polar Bears to a fifth-place overall effort in a strong 10-team field. Adams posted the quickest time among the 30 competing individuals in the event, clocking a 2:07.98 to out-touch Case Western Reserve's Brody Schmidt.
In addition, the Ypsilanti, Michigan native compiled four total top-five finishes over the weekend. He would take third in the 100 breast event in 58.81 while helping the 400 medley relay and 200 free relay squads to second- and fourth-place finishes in the three-day event.
Adams earns his first career OAC Athlete of the Week honor with Monday's announcement. He is also the first ONU male swimmer or diver to garner the accolade during the 2018-19 season.
The Polar Bears will now break from action until early 2019. They are set to resume their schedule in January with a competition during their Winter Training trip to Arizona.
