Senior Anthony Ferrell wins 100 breast, leads Men's Swimming and Diving team on Day 2 of Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER —Senior Anthony Ferrell (Canton/Glen Oak) won the 100 breast to lead a 1-3-4 Ohio Northern finish in the event to lead the ONU men's swimming and diving team on the second day of the Wooster Invitational on Friday at the Wooster High School Natatorium.
The Polar Bears are third out of 10 teams with 733 points through 13 of 20 events.
Case Western Reserve leads the team standings with 1278 points, Gannon (Pa.) is second with 969.5 points and Wooster is fourth with 693 points.
Ferrell won the 100 breast in :58.36, freshman Jeremy Adams (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) was third of 29 swimmers in :58.81 and sophomore Pat Reed (Charleston, W.Va./Washington) was fourth in :58.88.
Senior Pete He (Mason) finished fifth out of 35 swimmers in the 100 fly in :51.79 and junior Nolan Huey (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge) was fifth out of 40 swimmers in the 100 back in :52.06
Sophomore Dylan Boyd (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) was seventh in the 3-meter diving with 310.18 points.
The 200 medley relay team of Huey, Ferrell, sophomore Zach Ayres (Chillicothe) and He began the up the evening by finishing second in 1:34.43.
The 800 free relay team of Adams, junior Grant Pfeifer (Bucyrus/Colonel Crawford), freshman Caleb Baker (Westerville/South) and Huey ended the day with an eighth place finish in 7:13.89.
The meet will finish with the final seven events on Saturday.
Prelims on both days will begin at 10 am at Wooster High School with diving starting at 2 pm at the College of Wooster.
Finals on Saturday will start at 5 pm at Wooster High School.
