Men's Swimming and Diving opens 2018 dual slate with 211-74 victory over OAC foe Wilmington

ADA - The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving program captured first-place finishes in 14 of 16 total events en route to a 211-74 victory over league rival Wilmington Friday evening inside the ONU Sports Center Natatorium to open their 2018 dual meet slate.
The Polar Bears start the season with a 1-0 overall record and a 1-0 conference mark following their home opener. Meanwhile, Wilmington falls to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
Junior Ryan Groehl (Marysville), sophomore Dylan Boyd (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley), and freshmen Jeremy Adams (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) and Jackson Stanley (Beavercreek) each registered multiple individual event titles to help guide the Northern efforts.
Groehl led off the night with a strong backstroke leg in the 200-yard medley relay, propelling his team to a 1:38.57 clocking for the program's first event title of the night. The junior would go on to claim the 100 back in 56.15 and the 50 fly in 24.95.
Boyd would emerge victorious in both the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions. He would post a 175.35 mark in the one-meter contest and a 189.30 standard in the three-meter dive.
Adams tallied his first win of the night when he took home the event title in the 1000 free with a 10:26.03 clocking. The freshman also notched a first-place effort in the 100 breast in 1:01.37 and aided the winning 200 free relay.
Meanwhile, Stanley picked up his event titles in the 50 back with a time of 26.58 and in the 500 free, which he captured with a 5:13.35 touch.
The Polar Bears would also received individual event victories from senior Pete He (Mason), junior Nolan Huey (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge), and freshmen Caleb Baker (Westerville/South) and Justin DeLano (Englewood/Northmont) in the 200 free, 100 fly, 50 free, and 100 free races, respectively.
The Polar Bears are scheduled to hit the road tomorrow to continue their dual season schedule as they travel to Ohio Athletic Conference rival John Carroll. The meet will be held at the William H. Johnson Natatorium and is slated for a 1 p.m. start time.
