CHICAGO, Ill. — Ohio Northern senior Braden Kuhn (Tiffin/Columbian) finished 18th overall in the 3-meter diving event on Saturday afternoon at the 2018 NCAA Division III Central Regional Diving Championships on Saturday afternoon at the University of Chicago's Myers-McLoraine Pool.
The senior finished 18 of 24 divers in the event with 375.35 points.
Kuhn wrapped up his career with a solid effort in the 3-meter dive competition.
"I am beyond excited to see where my diving career has brought me," said Kuhn. "Making an NCAA region cut has always been on my mind since freshman year. Coming to Chicago this week with both of my coaches was very memorable and I will remember this weekend for the rest of my life. I am very thankful for all the support my parents, family, friends, coaches, and teammates have given me over the years. I am glad to leave a footprint with Ohio Northern Swimming & Diving and excited to see the polar bears success in the future. Go Bears!"
Lake Forest's (Ill.) Heath Ogawa took the 3-meter dive title with 512.50 points, while Albion (Mich.) finished 2-3 in the event as Jacob Burris was second with 460.25 points and Jacob Maurer rounded out the top-3 with 457.00 points.
"I'm so proud to see Braden reach this level in such a short period of time," said head coach Peggy Ewald. "Having had his brother Brett, in 2009, as a part of the team and then Braden, it's such an honor when you get to share such meaning memories. Such a large group of friends and family came to support Braden. From the group, there were six former athletes I coached from age group/high school days in Tiffin. It was a great experience for Braden to end his collegiate career on."
Northern finished the season with an impressive 7-2 record and finished second at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.
