Saturday's Meets: The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team will open its 2017-18 season on Saturday when the swimmers compete at the Kenyon Relays and the divers compete at the Denison Diving Meet ... The men and women will compete in eight relays each and will combine to swim the Mixed 200 Relay ... The scoring will follow the standard 14-10-8-6-4-2 relay scoring format with the top relay from each team eligible for scoring ... The top two divers in each of the 1- and 3-meter competitions will also score as a relay in the team standings of the Kenyon Relays meet ... Ohio Northern will look to rebound in 2017-18 and claim its 13th OAC Championships title under the guidance of 14th-year head coach Peggy Ewald ... The Polar Bears posted a 5-4 record last season and finished second at the OAC Championships in 2016-17 after posting 12 straight OAC Championship seasons ... Ewald and her staff welcome back a deep roster that includes 14 letterwinners ... The senior class of Duggan Trenary , Ian Simpson, Michael Drake, Conor Cassara and Braden Kuhn will look to lead the team in 2017-18 ... Simpson returns as a 2-time OAC Champion and 6-time All-OAC honoree ... Kuhn, the 2016 OAC Diver of the Year and 2-time OAC Champion returns to the team after a season off ... Juniors Justin Chapman, Anthony Ferrell, Thomas Golba, Pete He, and Gabe Rastatter all return as 2-time letterwinners for Northern ... ONU will welcome back a strong sophomore class, led by sophomore 4-time All-OAC honoree Nolan Huey ... Sophomores Ryan Groehl, Nathan Donatelli, and Grant Pfeifer also return in 2017-18, adding depth and experience to the squad.

ONU head coach Peggy Ewald: Ewald is in her 13th season at ONU and is the program's all-time winningest coach with a 100-14 men's dual meet record, a winning percentage of .709. She has been named OAC Men's Coach of the Year seven times and guided the Polar Bear men to 12 consecutive OAC Championships crowns from 2005-16 and 10 straight OAC Regular Season titles from 2007-16.
