Freshman Nolan Huey sets second school record to lead Men's Swimming & Diving on Day 2 of the Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER — Freshman Nolan Huey (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge) broke his second school record in as many days to lead the Ohio Northern men's swimming & diving team on the second day of the three-day Wooster Invitational at the Timken Natatorium and the Wooster YMCA pools on Friday.
Huey swam a 4:05.92 in the prelims of the 400 I.M. on Friday afternoon, which is an NCAA "B" Cut and puts him in ninth place nationally in the event.
He then finished second in the event in the finals Friday evening in 4:08.44.
Senior John Raker (Lebanon/Lakota West) was third in the event in 4:12.72.
On Thursday, Huey set the school record in the 200 back with a 1:53.70 clocking in a non-scored time trial.
Sophomore Anthony Ferrell (Canton/Glen Oak) and junior Thomas Golba (Kettering/Alter)posted solid finishes in the 100 breast, with Ferrell touching in fourth in :58.63 and Golba finishing sixth in :58.82.
Sophomore Pete He (Mason) was fifth in the 100 fly in :51.47 and junior Ian Simpson (Strongsville) was sixth in the 100 back in :53.36.
The 200 medley relay team of Simpson, Golba, He and senior Logan Pfeifer (Bucyrus/Colonel Crawford) was second in 1:34.41 and the 800 free relay team of Huey, senior Eric Chen (Mason), He and Pfeifer was seventh in 7:07.66.
Ohio Northern is in fourth place after 13 of the 20 events with 751 points. Case Western Reserve leads the team standings with 1,089 points, Westminster (Pa.) is second with 869 and Gannon (Pa.) is third with 814.
The Polar Bears will wrap up the meet on Saturday.
