Men's Swimming & Diving in second place after Day 1 of Calvin (Mich.) Quad Meet

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team is in second place after the first day of a quad meet at Calvin (Mich.) with Albion (Mich.) and Carthage (Wis.) on Friday night at the Venema Aquatic Center.
The Polar Bears are second of four teams with 238 points after five of 20 events.
No. 20-ranked Calvin is first with 357 points, Carthage (Wis.) is third with 213 points and Albion (Mich.) is fourth with 182 points.
Freshman Trevor Keriazes led ONU by winning the 200 I.M. in 1:57.76.
Sophomore Eric Chen was third in the 50 free in :21.80 and swam the leadoff leg of the 200 free relay. He combined with junior Mitchell Murphy, freshman Thomas Golba and sophomore Logan Pfeifer to finish second in 1:28.00.
Sophomore John Raker led ONU in the 500 free, touching seventh in 5:00.01.
The 400 medley relay team of freshman Gabe Dauch, Keriazes, sophomore Jeremy Preston and Murphy were third in 3:35.21.
The second session will get underway on Saturday at 10 am and the third and final session will start Saturday at 4 pm.
