Freshman Trevor Keriazes shatters ONU record, tops NCAA "B" Cut in 400 I.M. to lead Men's Swimming & Diving on Day 2 of Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER — Freshman Trevor Keriazes shattered the school record in the 400 I.M. to lead the Ohio Northern men's swimming & diving team on the second day of the 3-day Wooster Invitational on Friday at the Wooster High School Natatorium.
The Polar Bears remain in second place out of 10 teams with 828.5 points after 12 of the 20 events.
Case Western Reserve leads the team standings with 977.5 points, while NCAA Division II schools Malone and Gannon (Pa.) and third and fourth with 768.5 and 697.5 points, respectively.
Keriazes broke the school record in the 400 I.M. by finishing third in 4:06.92, a full 1.38 seconds better than the previous record of 4:08.30 set by sophomore John Raker last year.
Raker also broke his school record in the race, finishing fourth in an impressive 4:07.00.
Both Keriazes and Raker surpassed the NCAA "B" Cut of 4:07.40 in the event.
Sophomore Jeremy Preston won the 100 fly in :50.06. He surpassed the NCAA "B" Cut with a :49.96 finish in the prelims Friday afternoon.
In the 100 back, freshman Gabe Dauch placed eighth in :53.48.
The 200 medley relay team of Dauch, Keriazes, Preston and sophomore Logan Pfeifer finished second in 1:34.21.
In the final swimming event of the night, the 800 free relay squad of Keriazes, Raker, senior Chris W. Hoffman and sophomore Eric Chen were fifth in 7:04.07.
