Senior Jordan Breitigam earns invitation to compete at 2014 NCAA III Swimming & Diving Championships

ADA — Ohio Northern senior Jordan Breitigam has earned an invitational to compete in the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships March 19-22 at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.
Breitigam qualified for the meet in both the 100 and 200 fly events and will also have the opportunity to compete in the 200 I.M.
Breitigam is ranked No. 10 nationally in the 200 fly with an NCAA III Cut time of 1:49.51 and is ranked No. 17 in the 100 fly with an NCAA III Cut time of :49.28.
His NCAA "B" Cut time of 1:53.50 also qualifies him to compete in the 200 I.M.
He is a two-time Honorable Mention All-American in the 200 fly, finishing ninth last year in 1:47.46 and finishing 13th at the 2012 NCAA III Championships.
The top eight in each event earn All-American status and finishers 9-16 earn Honorable All-American honors.
Five other Polar Bears surpassed NCAA III Cuts in their respective events, but were not invited to the meet.
Senior Lindsey Rayhill missed the cut in the 200 fly (2:05.92) by just .61 of a second and was also just short in the 100 fly (:57.12).
Sophomores Lindsey Inkrott and Allison Lohnes buth surpassed the NCAA III Cut in both the 100 and 200 back events.
Inkrott missed making the field in the 100 back by just .07 of a second, as her NCAA III Cut time of :56.86 left her just short of the final qualifier's time of :56.79.
Lohnes was also close in the 200 back, missing the last qualifier's time of 2:02.74 by just more than a second.
Freshmen Jeremy Preston and John Raker also just missed out on qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
Preston's NCAA III Cut :49.88 time in the 100 fly was .47 of a second off the needed mark and Raker's NCAA III Cut time of 1:53.78 in the 200 fly was more than three seconds off the necessary time.
