Two school records fall as Men's Swimming & Diving holds lead after Day 2 of OAC Championships

AKRON -- Senior Jordan Breitigam and John Raker each broke school records to lead the Ohio Northern men's swimming & diving team at Day 2 of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium on Friday evening.
The Polar Bears hold the lead after two days with 621 points.
Mount Union is second with 425.5 points and John Carroll is in third with 319 points.
Breitigam won the 100 fly for the third consecutive season, touching in 49.28. His time also surpassed the NCAA "B" Cut.
Raker won the 400 I.M. in 4:08.30, for his second individual OAC title of the championships.
Freshman Jeremy Preston was second in the 100 fly in 49.88 to earn All-OAC accolades. His time also surpassed an NCAA "B" Cut.
Senior Kyle Rex repeated as the OAC champion in the 3-meter diving, recording a score of 375.80 and freshman Tim Pelltier finished second for All-OAC accolades with 337.20 points.
The 200 medley relay team of junior Brian Heilbronner, junior Jason Luthman, freshman Logan Pfeifer and Breitigam touched first in 1:34.28.
Luthman also notched an All-OAC honor in the 100 breast, finishing second in 58.50 and Heilbronner touched second in the 100 back in 53.27 to earn an All-OAC honor.
The 800 free relay tandem of freshman Eric Chen, junior Christopher Hoffman, senior John Beaschler and Raker captured first in 6:57.83.
Junior Spencer Franzoi finished in second place in the 400 I.M. 4:08.93, to garner in All-OAC honors.
In the 200 free, Hoffman finished second and Beaschler was third in 1:44.08 and 1:44.33, respectively, to earn All-OAC accolades.
"We are at the point in the meet where things are setting up well," said head coach Peggy Ewald. "We are executing our plan great. We have broken records and hit NCAA cuts. I am happy with the overall team performance."
Ohio Northern will look to clinch its 10th straight OAC title on Saturday. Prelims are slated for 11 am, with the finals beginning at 6 pm.
"We still have one more day left," added Ewald. "We need to bring it again tomorrow to capture another OAC title."
