HILLSDALE, Mich. — The No. 21-ranked Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team won nine of the 11 swimming events and defeated Olivet (Mich.) 144-76 in a non-conference meet at Jack McAvoy Natatorium on Saturday.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Comets fall to 0-3.
Freshman Cody Newton won the 100 free in :49.24 and won the 200 free in 1:49.94 to lead ONU.
Senior John Beaschler won the 50 free in :22.60, sophomore Jacob Croadell won the 500 free in 5:05.73 and sophomore Zach Martin won the 1,000 free in 10:19.47 to complete the sweep of the freestyle events for ONU.

The 400 free relay team of Beaschler, Wood, freshman Logan Pfeifer and freshman John Raker won in 3:16.36.
"We've been swimming sick and broken, exactly how it is at this time of the year," ONU head coach Peggy Ewald said. "Today gave us an opportunity to swim in the morning against two teams out of conference. For us, that means growth. We're taking away a clear picture of what we need to focus on over the next couple competitions."
The Polar Bears will travel for two more non-conference meets next weekend, swimming at Wittenberg on Friday and at Kenyon on Saturday.
