ADA — Three goals from sophomore Colin Gottron (Dayton/Centerville) led the No. 22-ranked Ohio Northern men's soccer team past John Carroll 3-2 on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the regular season.

The Basics

  • Records: #22 Ohio Northern (13-3-3 overall, 7-1-1 OAC), John Carroll (12-5-2 Overall, 6-3-0 OAC).
  • Venue: Kerscher Stadium — Ada, Ohio.

The Match

  • John Carroll scored first in the 20th minute to take an early lead.
  • Gottron took a corner kick just outside of the 18-yard box to score his first goal of the match with 42:40 gone.
  • John Carroll took back the lead when they scored in the 73rd minute.
  • Gottron scored his second goal of the afternoon unassisted in the 79th minute to tie the game back up.
  • With just 1:11 left in the match, Gottron scored the game-winning goal off an assist from senior Ryan Sommerfeld (Dublin/Coffman) to make the score 3-2.
