NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Ohio Northern men's soccer team conceded three second-half goals to fall 3-0 at North Central (Ill.) at Benedetti Wehrli Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears (0-1-1) were led by two shots on goal from junior Beelal Hasan (Westerville/Thomas) and sophomore Seth Gundlach (Wilmington).
NCC (1-1-0) scored goals in the 49th, 51st, and 89th minutes.
Sophomore John Lombardo (Solon) made four first-half saves, including a key stop in the 7th minute to keep the game scoreless, deflecting away a rocket from 16 yards out by NCC's Alexis Flores.
Northern recorded eight on-target attempts for the match, but was unable to beat the NCC keeper.
The Cardinals outshot the Polar Bears 13-9, but ONU held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
Ohio Northern returns to action Friday in its home opener against Hope (Mich.) at 7:30 p.m. at Kerscher Stadium.
