Men's Soccer lands four on OCSA All-Ohio teams, two on Academic All-Ohio list for 2018 season

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's soccer program placed four individuals on the OCSA All-Ohio teams and two student-athletes on the OCSA Academic All-Ohio teams for the 2018 season, the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman midfielder Levi King (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) was named to the OCSA All-Ohio Second-Team while sophomores Beelal Hasan (Westerville/Thomas) and Jimmy Walkinshaw (Plymouth, Mich./Canton) and freshman Jacob Westerkamp (Beavercreek) were tabbed to the All-Ohio Third-Team.
Meanwhile, junior defensive backs Luke Fickenworth (Cincinnati/Anderson) and John Sternasty (Akron/Revere) earned First-Team and Second-Team Academic All-Ohio honors, respectively.
All six individuals earn their first Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association accolades with the announcement.
King, garners his first award after a breakout freshman season where he produced a team-high eight assists and 82 shots to go alongside 10 goals and 28 total points. The Indianapolis, Indiana native also converted both penalty kicks for the Polar Bears this season.
Additionally, the first-year midfielder landed among the league's statistical leaders, ending second in shots, third in assists, and fifth in goals and points within the Ohio Athletic Conference.
During his first season, King has been tabbed to the United Soccer Coaches All-Great Lakes Region Third-Team, All-OAC Second-Team, and been dubbed the 2018 OAC Freshman of the Year. He would additionally garner two OAC Offensive Player of the Week awards on September 17 and September 24.
Hasan receives the honor following his sophomore campaign where he led the Polar Bears with 15 goals, 36 points, and four game-winning goals while also posting six assists. In addition, the Westerville native would rewrite the Ohio Northern record books with new sophomore class records in points and goals.
The sophomore forward would finish the season ranked third in goals and shots (79) and end fourth in points among the Ohio Athletic Conference.
Hasan has started 34 matches in his 40 career appearances and has registered 17 goals and 40 points in his two-year career. He was previously named to the All-OAC First-Team and the Ohio Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team earlier this season.
Walkinshaw, a sophomore from Plymouth, Michigan, started 15 of his 16 appearances to contribute one goal and an assist from the midfield position. He also played an important role in the program's stellar run during the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament, earning him All-Tournament Team accolades.
In his career, Walkinshaw has earned All-OAC Honorable Mention honors in 2018 and Academic All-OAC kudos twice. Through two athletic seasons, he owns three career goals and seven assists in 38 total appearances.
Westerkamp, a freshman defensive back from Beavercreek, started 18 matches for the Polar Bears during his first season with the program. He would help anchor a backline that recorded eight shutouts and limited opponents to just 1.33 goals per contest this season. Additionally, he would contribute a goal and a pair of assists to aid the offensive attack.
Earlier this postseason, Westerkamp was awarded All-Ohio Athletic Conference Second-Team honors.
Fickenworth, a defensive back and third-year pharmacy student, was honored with Academic All-OAC First-Team accolades following the 2018 season. During his junior season, he started 11 matches and appeared in 21 total contests. He also registered a critical goal during the program's 3-0 upset victory over then-ranked #19 Ohio Wesleyan at Olentangy Liberty High School.
During his career, Fickenworth has been named to two Academic All-OAC teams in 2017 and 2018. The junior has posted two career goals and 12 starts in 31 appearances.
Sternasty, a pharmaceutical and healthcare business student, registered Academic All-Ohio Second-Team kudos after appearing in 19 matches this season with 12 starts. The Akron native posted two assists and tallied five shots this season from his position in the defensive line.
Sternasty also earned his first nod to the Academic All-OAC squad this offseason.
The Ohio Northern men's soccer team ended the 2018 season owning a 13-7-2 overall record and a 4-5 mark in the OAC, good for a fifth-place finish in the league standings. The Polar Bears would also proceed to the OAC Tournament Finals where they fell in extra penalty kicks to league champion John Carroll to conclude the campaign.
