Men's Soccer places four on 2018 All-Ohio Athletic Conference teams; Levi King tabbed Freshman of the Year

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's soccer program landed four student-athletes on the 2018 All-Ohio Athletic Conference teams voted upon by the league's 10 head coaches, the conference office announced Thursday morning with the release of their annual awards listing.
Sophomore forward/defender Beelal Hasan (Westerville/Thomas) topped the Polar Bear honors as he was awarded First-Team All-Conference accolades for his efforts at the forward position this season.
Meanwhile, freshman midfielder Levi King (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and freshman defensive back Jacob Westerkamp (Beavercreek) were both named Second-Team All-OAC. King was additionally awarded OAC Freshman of the Year honors.
Sophomore midfielder Jimmy Walkinshaw (Plymouth, Mich./Canton) rounded out the Ohio Northern honorees, earning Honorable Mention kudos.
Hasan receives his honors following a campaign where he led the Polar Bears with 15 goals, 36 points, and four game-winning goals along with six assists. He would finish the season ranked third in goals and shots (79) while ending fourth in points among the OAC leaders. The Westerville native would also break the ONU sophomore class records in goals and points during the season.
Hasan, a first-time all-conference honoree, has now started 34 matches in his 40 career appearances and has registered 17 goals and 40 points in his two-year career.
King, who also receives his first all-conference award, was honored after a dazzling freshman season that included 10 goals, 28 points, and team-highs with eight assists and 82 shots. He also converted both penalty kicks for the Polar Bears this season.
The freshman would wind up second in shots, third in assists, and fifth in goals and points within the Ohio Athletic Conference.
During his first season, King would additionally garner two OAC Offensive Player of the Week awards on September 17 and September 24.
Westerkamp garners his first league recognition after starting 18 matches for the Polar Bears in his first season. He would help anchor a backline that recorded eight shutouts and limited opponents to 1.33 goals per contest.
Additionally, the defender would contribute a goal and a pair of assists to aid the offensive attack.
Walkinshaw was tabbed to an all-conference team for the first time after starting 15 of his 16 appearances this season. The sophomore contributed one goal and an assist this season while helping guide the midfield unit.
He now has three career goals and seven assists in his 38 appearances at ONU.
Ohio Northern finished the 2018 season sporting a 13-7-2 overall record and a 4-5-0 mark in the Ohio Athletic Conference to end fifth in the league standings. The Polar Bears would wrap up the season with a trip to the OAC Tournament Finals where they fell in penalty kicks to champion John Carroll.
