ADA — Freshman Levi King (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) had a hand in all three goals as the Ohio Northern men's soccer team rallied for a 3-1 victory over Thomas More (Ky.) on Tuesday evening at Kerscher Stadium.
King had a goal and two assists as the Polar Bears (4-2-1 overall) battled back from an early 1-0 deficit to defeat the Saints (4-3-1).
King, the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, now has four goals, a team-best five assists and leads the squad with 13 points on the season.
Thomas More broke through first, scoring at the end of a long run in the 21st minute to go up 1-0.
Junior Noah Bachwitz (Buffalo, N.Y./Williamsville North) tied the game at 1-all in the 33rd minute off a set piece.
Sophomore Zach Yoder (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) sent a free kick into the box, which was the flicked on by King to Bachwitz, who tapped the ball in uncontested at the far post.
King then gave ONU the lead just three and a half minutes later when freshman Bryan Kern (Rocky River) took a cross from Bachwitz, settled the ball in the middle of the box and fed King on the left side for an easy tap-in goal.
In the second half, King lofted a long shot with the keeper out of the box that was barely saved, but the rebound bounced right to Kern, who tapped it in from close range to make it 3-1 in the 66th minute.
Ohio Northern out-shot Thomas More 21-14 and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore John Lombardo (Solon) had four saves in goal to earn the win for ONU and improve to 2-0-0 on the season.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Friday at Anderson (Ind.)
