Senior Matt Kinkopf named NSCAA First Team All-America

ADA — Senior Matt Kinkopf (Hamilton/Cincinnati Christian) was named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America First Team All-America selection for the 2016 season.
A total of 92 players in NCAA Division III soccer received All-America recognition this year.
These All-Americans, along with their families and coaches, will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the NSCAA All-America Luncheon on January 14, 2017 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in conjunction with the 2017 NSCAA Convention.
Kinkopf put together a historical season as he led the Polar Bears to their ninth NCAA III Tournament birth in 2016.
The senior is a 4-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, a two-time All-Great Lakes Region honoree and earned his second All-America accolade.
Kinkopf led the team and conference with 16 goals, 17 assists and 49 points.
His 17 assists are the second best single season mark in ONU history, while his 16 goals are tied for sixth best in a single season at ONU and his 49 points rank fourth all-time at Northern in a single season.
Kinkopf ended his career as the all-time goals leader at Ohio Northern with 57 career goals, ranks tied for second all-time with 33 assists, and ranks second all-time at ONU with 147 career points.
The No. 9-ranked Polar Bears concluded their season in the first round of the NCAA III Tournament after dropping a 1-0 decision to No. 6 Calvin (Mich.) under 19th-year head coach Brent Ridenour.
