ADA — The No. 3-ranked Ohio Northern men's soccer team wrapped up the regular season Friday afternoon as it fell to Marietta 1-0 at Marietta Field
The Polar Bears finish the regular season 16-1-3 overall and 6-1-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Pioneers move to 10-8-1, 5-4-0.
With the loss, the Polar Bears have clinched the No. 2 seed in next week's OAC Tournament.
Northern earned a first round bye and will host a semifinal match at Kerscher Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Pioneers were able to get on the board early on in the contest as they grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.
From there, the MU defense would give its best effort to stop the Northern offense.
The Polar Bears would pressure the Marietta defense in the second half as they posted nine shots in the half.
Northern was able to win the corner kick battle by a 14-1 margin, but was unable to capitalize on any set pieces.
Senior David Janusz (Oregonia/Lebanon) led Northern offensively as he compiled six shots, while freshman Jimmy Walkinshaw (Plymouth, Mich./Canton) added five shots.
The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday evening at Kerscher Stadium at 7 pm, as they host the winner of the No. 3/6 seed matchup.
