NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- Sophomore J.J. Fortner scored his first career goal to lead the Ohio Northern men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Manchester (Ind.) Tuesday evening at Spartan Soccer Field.
The Polar Bears improve to 8-3-0 overall, while the Spartans fall to 3-4-2 on the year.
After a scoreless regulation, Fortner would find the back of the net for Northern in the 98th minute, as he took a pass off a free kick from senior Chad Smith and beat the keeper with a header.
Junior Grant Allbritten led the ONU offense as he fired three shots, all of which were on goal.
The Polar Bears were dominant offensively as they racked up 23 shots compared to the Spartans six.
Northern threatened multiple times in the early going but could not to find the back of the net.
ONU was very aggressive in the second half as they out shot the Spartans 9-1.
Sophomore Dean McNeil earned the victory in goal for the Polar Bears. McNeil recorded two saves on the evening to improve to 7-3-0 on the year.
Northern will return home Saturday, as they open up the Ohio Athletic Conference portion of their schedule and play host to John Carroll at 7 pm at Kerscher Stadium.
