ADA – The Ohio Northern men's soccer team continued their longstanding tradition of excellence by breaking several academic records during the fall semester.
Head Coach Brent Ridenour's men capped off an impressive season with even more remarkable results inside the classroom.
The varsity and reserve teams set a record for their highest overall GPA with an impressive 3.48.
The team's previous record for a fall term was a 3.34.
The 27 man varsity team earned an overall GPA of 3.52.
Coach Ridenour's men broke another record this season as 22 players earned a spot on the Dean's List.
The previous record of 21 players was set by last year's team.
14 players earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester.
Of those 14 players, 5 are in the regular starting 11 on game day.
Concluding their long list of academic achievements this season, the men's soccer program also had seven players earn Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors.
Coach Ridenour attributes the success of his program to the competitive nature of his players.
"I'll even have sophomores, juniors who will say, 'I think we can do better than a 3.30, I think we can do better than a 3.35' … we want competitive players on the field, and we want players who are going to do everything they can to help the team succeed in every way."
The Polar Bears finished their regular season with a 12-8-1 record and finished fourth in the OAC with a 5-3-1 mark.
