The Polar Bears controlled the ball for most of the first half outshooting the Crusaders 13-3.
Capital, however, was able to strike in the 27th minute as Josh Spaw was able to get a foot on a corner kick from teammate Jacob Pulliam to give Capital the 1-0 advantage.
Ohio Northern had a chance to even the score late in the half as sophomore Austin Horton played a ball just over the top cross bar.
The Crusaders outshot the Polar Bears in the second half 7-4 but ONU dominated the ball early.
ONU fired off two shots right away, one coming from freshman Chris Garbig in the 50th minute that was blocked by the Capital defense, and the other from sophomore Patrick Sabol that was just wide of goal.
As time winded down the Polar Bears threatened once more as Ross played a ball just wide of the left post just missing the goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Dean McNeil had three saves in the game and Sabol added three shots.
