Friday's Contest: Ohio Northern is ranked No. 12 in this week's D3soccer.com poll and No. 19 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire poll. The winner of this match will play either No. 8 Wheaton (Ill.) or Thomas More (Ky.) on Saturday at 5 pm CST. ONU is led by First Team All-OAC honoree Matt Kinkopf, who leads the team with 15 goals and 35 points. Senior Jeremy Barnes has a team and OAC leading 12 assists this season. Freshman goalkeeper Evan Bader has recorded 10 shutouts this season and has made 61 saves. Kenyon earned an at-large berth to the the NCAA III Tournament after falling to top ranked Ohio Wesleyan in the NCAC Tournament Championship. The Lords are led by Tony Amolo who leads the team in goals (10) and points (27) and is tied for the team lead in assists with seven.
The Series: Kenyon leads the all-time series 9-2-2. These teams played every season but one from 1976-1988. The Lords won the last meeting in 2010 by a 2-1 score.
ONU in the NCAA III Tournament: This is the sixth straight appearance in the NCAA III Tournament for ONU and the seventh overall. Northern has a 11-5-1 record all-time in the tournament. Last season, the Polar Bears made an appearance in the NCAA III Tournament Championship, where they were defeated by Messiah (Pa.). Northern made the Sweet 16 in 2011 and the Elite Eight in 2008.
ONU Head Coach Brent Ridenour: Ridenour is in his 16th season and is the program's all-time winningest coach with a 237-93-26 record. He has guided the Polar Bears to seven NCAA III Tournament appearances, where he is 11-5-1 all-time
