No. 12 Men's Soccer battles to physical 2-0 victory over Transylvania (Ky.)

ADA--The No. 12 Ohio Northern men's soccer team defeated the Pioneers of Transylvania (Ky.) 2-0 in a physical match Saturday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.
The Polar Bears improve 7-1-0 on the season while Transy suffers their first loss and fall to 3-1-1.
The game was tough from the start and after 30 minutes of scoreless action freshman Keegan Ross
took a pass from senior Chris Matejka
and fired a hard shot into the right side of the net in the 33rd
Ross' sixth goal of the season put the Polar Bears up 1-0.
Then, in the 36th minute, Matejka scored his first goal of the season when he put the ball past the goalie off of a free kick.
The second half was scoreless as Pioneer goalie Taylor Nossokoff made five of his six saves in the period.
With the loss Nossokoff falls to 3-1-1 on the season.
Senior goalie Mac Church
earned his 37th
career shutout by making three saves in the match.
Eight of the Polar Bears 14 shots were on goal compared to just four shots by Transy with three being on goal.
Eight yellow cards and one red card were handed out as well as 33 fouls.
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Wednesday, when they head to No. 23 Ohio Wesleyan University to take on the Battling Bishops at 7 pm.
