ADA — Junior Cameron Johnson notched two goals and an assist to lead the fourth-ranked Ohio Northern men's soccer team to a 4-0 non-conference victory over Earlham (Ind.) at the ONU Soccer Field Wednesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-0 on the season, while the Quakers fall to 0-3.
Johnson scored for the first time in the seventh minute when he tapped in a goal after nice passes from seniors Abrim Mueller and Robert Sellers, as they both picked up assists.
Senior Greg Stawicki made the score 2-0 in the 26th minute, when he earned his first goal of the year off assists from junior Chris Matejka and Sellers.
In the 31st minute, Johnson picked up his second goal of the day and fourth of the year after a give-and-go with Stawicki, who earned the assist.
Less than four minutes later, Johnson received his fifth point of the day when he assisted a goal by sophomore Jeremy Barnes, making the score 4-0.
Junior Mac Church earned his third shutout of the last four games, stopping all three shots on goal that he faced.
The ONU defense played well all day, limiting Earlham to eight shots compared to Northern's 14.
This weekend, the Polar Bears will host the annual ONU Invitational, with games lined up against Oberlin on Friday at 3 pm and Penn State-Behrend on Saturday at 2:30 pm. Defiance will also be participating in the Invitational.
