Men's Lacrosse wins third consecutive game, stays atop OAC standings with 20-1 victory over Heidelberg

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team won its third consecutive game and remained atop the Ohio Athletic Conference standings with a 20-1 victory over Heidelberg on a wet Wednesday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

- Senior Aidan Dempsey (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's College) had a 3-goal hat trick and four points to lead a balanced offensive attack for the Polar Bears.
- In all, 13 different players scored goals in the game, which was played in a light rain.
- Northern scored the first three goals to lead 3-0 with 7:34 gone in the contest.
- HU got its lone goal at the 5:41 mark of the first to make it 3-1.
- Northern led 5-1 after the first period, 13-1 at halftime and 16-1 after three periods.
- Fifth-year senior Cole Zaferakis (Liverpool, N.Y.) stopped two of three shots on goal in 34:18 of action to lead the Polar Bears.
- Sophomore Colin Willits (West Chester/Lakota West) also had a 3-goal hat trick for ONU.
- ONU out-shot HU 55-10.

- The Polar Bears remained in a 5-way tie atop the OAC standings with a 4-1 league mark.
- Dempsey now ranks fifth all-time in ONU history with 125 points in his career. He ranks fourth with 88 career goals and is sixth with 38 assists.
- He also leads the team in scoring this season with 31 goals and 38 points.
- In all, 26 different Polar Bears have scored goals this season with five more adding at least one assist.
- Senior Chad Calderwood (Portland, Ore./Episcopal) went 9-for-9 on faceoffs on the day, extending his school record to 386 for his career.
- Senior Sebastian Michaud (Springboro) had two goals and is sixth at ONU with 67 career goals, is seventh with 30 assists and is sixth with 97 points.
- Fifth-year senior Riley O'Neal (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) is fifth with 38 career assists.
- Zafarakis holds the ONU career records for saves (555), wins (44) and goalie minutes played (3,491).
- ONU now leads the all-time series with HU by an 7-0 margin, which includes a 4-0 mark at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
- Head coach Nat St.Laurent is in his ninth season at Ohio Northern with an 88-46 record and has a winning percentage of .657.
