ADA — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team posted the first shutout in program history with a 17-0 victory over Muskingum on a sunny but chilly Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears also extended its winning streak to seven games and is now 10-1 overall and 3-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The Muskies fall to 3-7, 0-4.
Northern out-shot Muskingum 70-4, won the ground ball battle 54-27 and won 17-of-19 faceoffs.
Thirteen ONU players scored at least one goal and 15 players posted at least one point for the Polar Bears, led by sophomore Cameron Marous (Brecksville) with two goals and four assists for six points.
Juniors Nicholas Groves (Fishers, Ind./Chatard) and Max Weese (Columbus/Hilliard Darby) and sophomore Shane Olsen (White Bear Lake, Minn.) each scored twice.
Freshman Preston Victory (Brentwood, Tenn.) was a perfect 7-for-7 in the faceoff circle.
In all, 42 players saw action in the game for ONU.
Ohio Northern led 3-0 after the first quarter, 7-0 at halftime and 13-0 after three quarters.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday with a 7 pm game at Heidelberg.
