ADA — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team posted a convincing 17-5 victory over Hanover (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 5-1 overall, while the Panthers drop to 0-6.
Junior Max Weese (Columbus/Hilliard Darby) led the attack offensively, scoring four goals in the win, while sophomore Cameron Marous (Brecksville) posted a 3-goal, 3-assist effort in the win.
In the first period, ONU scored the contests first four goals to take an early 4-0 lead.
After Hanover opened the second period with a goal, Marous and Weese and scored a pair of goals to push the lead to 8-1. The Panthers would add one more before the intermission to cut the lead to 8-2 at halftime.
Sophomore Kevin Giles (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill) get ONU on the board early in the second half with a goal just over a minute into the second half.
Hanover would score two more before Northern used a 5-0 run to close the third quarter and take a 14-4 lead into the final period.
Northern would score three fourth quarter goals to seal the victory 17-5 victory.
Junior Alex Pizarro (Boonsboro, Md.) improved to 5-1 in the goal, posting six saves in the contest.
Junior Jackson Pfister (Upper Arlington) picked up a team-best three ground balls and wreaked havoc defensively, with a game-high three caused turnovers.
Northern will return to action on Saturday, Mar. 17 with a trip to Alfred (N.Y.) where it will take on the Saxons at 1 p.m.
