ADA — Fifteen different players scored goals to lead the Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team in a 19-3 non-conference victory over Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears wrapped up their season-opening three-game home stand with a perfect 3-0 record, outscoring their opponents 54-14, while the Presidents fall to 0-3.
Sophomore Cameron Marous (Brecksville) scored four goals to record his third consecutive hat trick this season. He also had two assists for a team-best six points.
Freshman Cody Calvert (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) tallied two goals and 13 other Polar Bears picked up one goal each.
Junior Noah St. Croix (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) had a goal and three assists for four points.
In all, 19 different Ohio Northern players had at least one point.
ONU was in control from the onset, as sophomore Javon Smith took the opening faceoff and scored just 12 seconds into the game.
Sophomore Kevin Giles (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill) scored just 1:22 later and is was 2-0 ONU just 1:34 into the contest.
Northern led 5-0 after the first period and the lead was 8-0 after Marous' fourth goal of the game at the 10:08 mark of the first half.
The Polar Bears led 12-2 at halftime and 14-2 after three periods.
ONU out-shot WJC 51-14 and won the ground ball battle 52-28.
The Polar Bears will take to the road for their next five games, starting on March 3 at McDaniel (Md.)
