ADA — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team dropped a 14-5 decision to Ohio Athletic Conference foe Baldwin Wallace on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 9-4 overall and are 4-1 in OAC play, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 9-2, 4-1.
Sophomore Max Weese (Columbus/Hilliard Darby) scored two goals and added an assist to lead Ohio Northern.
BW scored the first three goals of the game and led 3-0 with 11:51 left in the first half.
ONU answered with three goals in a span of 3:12 to tie the game at 3-all with 6:17 left in the second quarter.
Sophomore Patrick Moran (Austin, Tex./Bowie) scored at the 9:29 mark, Weese scored at the 8:14 mark and sophomore Drew Eramo (Hilliard/Bishop Ready) got the equalizer 1:53 later.
But the Yellow Jackets would answer with the next three goals, including one with 27 seconds left in the half, to lead 6-3 at intermission.
Freshman Cameron Marous (Brecksville) scored the first goal of the second half to pull ONU within 6-4 at the 9:39 mark of the third quarter, but BW would score the next five goals to put the game away.
Weese scored with 36 seconds left in the third to stop the run and make it 11-5.
Baldwin Wallace out-shot Ohio Northern 36-25 and won the ground ball battle 34-25.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday with a 1 pm game at John Carroll.
