ADA — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team ran its winning streak to eight games and stayed atop the Ohio Athletic Conference standings with a 17-3 victory over Heidelberg on Wednesday night at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears are 9-3 overall and are in first place in the OAC with a perfect 4-0 record, while the Student Princes fall to 3-8, 0-3 in their first year as a varsity program.
Northern scored the first 13 goals of the game and held HU scoreless for more than 37 minutes.
Sophomore Anthony Pavone (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) and freshman Cameron Marous (Brecksville) each had six points to lead the balanced ONU attack.
Pavone had a hat trick with three goals and added three assists, while Marous had four goals and a pair of assists.
In all, 10 different Polar Bears scored in the game.
Northern led 4-0 after the first quarter and 10-0 at halftime on the strength of five man-up goals.
Sophomore Drew Eramo (Hilliard/Bishop Ready) scored his second goal of the game at the 8:51 mark of the third quarter to put the Polar Bears ahead 13-0.
ONU out-shot HU 41-18 and won 17-of-24 faceoffs.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday when they host Baldwin Wallace at 1 pm at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
