STEUBENVILLE — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team got four goals each from sophomores Lucas Blaszyk (Spencerport, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) and Max Weese (Columbus/Hilliard Darby) in a 21-7 victory at Franciscan on Saturday at Memorial Field.
The Polar Bears run their win streak to four games and finish their non-conference schedule with a 5-3 record, while the Barons fall to 2-3.
ONU also got 3-goal hat tracks from sophomore Noah St. Croix (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) and freshman Samuel Neff (Fairfax Station, Va./Trinity Christian).
In all, 11 different players scored at least one goal for the Polar Bears.
Ohio Northern also registered a school-record 77 shots to just 21 for Franciscan.
Sophomore Alex Pizarro (Boonsboro, Md.) had four saves in goal to pick up the win.
Northern scored the first four goals and did not trail in the contest. Blaszyk had a hat trick in the first 6:33 of the game, scoring three of ONU's four goals.
The Polar Bears led 7-2 after the first period, 9-4 at halftime and 13-5 entering the final period.
ONU exploded in the final frame, scoring eight consecutive goals to take a commanding 21-5 lead.
Northern was outstanding in the faceoff circle all day, winning 25-of-32 faceoffs.
Freshman Chris DiMarco (Worthington) was 9-of-10, sophomore William Peoples (Breckenridge, Colo./Summit) was 8-of-10 and sophomore Mitchell Frisby (Wadsworth) was 8-of-11 to lead Ohio Northern.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday when they begin the Ohio Athletic Conference portion of their schedule with a 1 pm contest at Mount Union.
