ADA — A balanced attack and a stingy defensive performance led the Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team to a 6-1 victory over Hanover (Ind.) on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Panterhs fall to 1-4.
Six different Ohio Northern players scored goals and sophomore Alex Pizarro (Boonsboro, Md.) allowed only one goal in 53 minutes in goal.
ONU out-shot HC 54-8.
The Polar Bears got goals from sophomores Nicholas Groves (Fishers, Ind./Chatard) and Drew Eramo (Hilliard/Bishop Ready) and freshman Kevin Giles (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill) to lead 3-0 at halftime.
Freshman Cameron Marous (Brecksville) and sophomore Mitch Groves (Fishers, Ind./Chatard) found the net in the third quarter to push the ONU lead to 5-0.
The Pantehrs got on the board with 20 seconds left in the third quarter, but ONU answered with a goal from sophomore Peter Hardt (Bethpage, N.Y./Plainedge) with 10:20 to go to extend the lead to 6-1.
The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday at 7 pm when they entertain Adrian (Mich.) at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
