HARROD — The Ohio Northern men's golf team finished sixth of nine teams at the Ohio Athletic Conference Fall Championships on Saturday at Colonial Golfers Club.
The Polar Bears (10-20 overall) posted a 314 for the 6886-yard, par-72 course, finishing just 11 shots behind the leader.
The championship was scheduled to be a 36-hole affair, but Friday's first round was canceled due to heavy rains in the area.
Senior David Gorman (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) led Ohio Northern with a 5-over par 77.
Senior Nick Anderson (Mason) and freshman Nolan Kimberly (Zanesville) tied for 16th with 78s, senior Joshua Turich (Centerville) tied for 36th with an 81 and freshman Andrew Slusher (Covington) tied for 49th with an 84.
John Carroll's Nolan Laughlin won Medalist honors with a 1-under par 71.
JCU edged Otterbein 303-305 for the team title. The team standings were tightly bunched, as only 18 strokes separated first and ninth place.
ONU head coach Chad Bucci surpassed the 200-win plateau as head coach of the Polar Bears. In his six-plus seasons, Bucci is 202-188-5, a winning percentage of .518. He moved past Chad Bostelman (199-166-9 from 2009-12) into second place on ONU's all-time career wins list.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their fall schedule on Friday at the 36-hole Defiance Invitational at Red Hawk Run Golf Course in Findlay.
