Four earn Academic All-Conference honors in Men's Golf for 2017-18

ADA — Four Ohio Northern Polar Bears were named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in men's golf for 2017-18.
Senior Zach Goodchild (Pickerington/North), juniors Joshua Turich (Centerville) and Shane Meek (Port Clinton) and sophomore Ryan Tatman (West Chester/Lakota East) all earned the award.
The award winners must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.
Goodchild is now a two-time Academic All-Conference honoree and is majoring in statistics.
He also earned All-Conference and All-Region honors and ended his career with a school-record 39 consecutive rounds under 80.
This season, Goodchild finished fourth of 45 golfers at the OAC Championships and led the team with a 74.8 average for 18 rounds.
He ends his four-year career as Ohio Northern's all-time career scoring average leader, with a school record 76.07 career average for 74.5 rounds.
He also tied ONU's 18-hole scoring record with a 67 in the first round of the Defiance Spring Invitational this year.
Turich is a two-time Academic All-OAC award winner and is majoring in mechanical engineering.
This season, Turich earned All-Conference honors with a ninth place finish at the OAC Championships.
He was third on the team with an 80.5 average for 18 rounds and will enter his senior season with an 80.59 average for 4,.5 rounds.
Meek is in his first season on the ONU men's golf squad and is a mechanical engineering major.
He was seventh on the team in scoring in 2017-18, averaging 84.3 strokes in eight rounds.
Tatman was fourth on the team in scoring this season with an 80.6 average for 17 rounds.
He is majoring in mechanical engineering.
In his two seasons at ONU, Tatman has averaged 80.79 strokes in 28 career rounds.
The Polar Bears posted a 25-50-1 overall record this season and finished fourth at the 2018 OAC Championships under fifth-year head coach Chad Bucci.
