Junior Zach Goodchild leads Men's Golf to 6th place finish at 12-team Ohio Dominican Kickoff Classic

BLACKLICK — Junior Zach Goodchild fired a 7-over par 151 to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team in its season-opening Ohio Dominican Kickoff Classic on Tuesday at the Jefferson Country Club.

The Polar Bears (6-5 overall) finished sixth of 12 teams with a 307-314—621 score as the players played 36 holes on Tuesday.

Goodchild carded a 78-73—151 to finish tied for 11th out of 98 golfers on the par-72, 6922-yard course.

Senior Blaine Ricketts and sophomore Nick Anderson tied for 32nd with 12-over par 156s and senior Tyler Davis tied for 45th with a 159 for ONU.

Graham McAree of NCAA Division II Indianapolis took Medalist honors with a 5-under par 139.

Indianapolis won the team title with a 583, Wayne State (Mich.) and Findlay tied for second with 605s.

Northern finished second out of three NCAA Division III schools.

The Polar Bears will return to action next Tuesday at the Spiess Invitational at Wauseon.
