Deichert leads record-breaking effort for Men's Golf at 2016 OAC Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE — Senior Rick Deichert fired a 1-under par 71 in the final round to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a record-breaking performance at the 2016 round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Friday-Sunday at River Greens Golf Course.
The Polar Bears (38-14-1 overall) finished second of eight teams with a school-record 301-298-295-299—1193 for the 72-hole tournament.
The score of 1193 shattered the previous school record of 1226 by 33 strokes.
Deichert was one of three Ohio Northern golfers to earn All-Conference accolades with a top-10 finish, winding up fifth out of 40 golfers with a 6-over par 74-75-74-71—294.
Deichert's 294 broke the previous school record by five strokes. He also became the first Ohio Northern golfer to earn All-Conference honors three times in his career.
Juniors Tyler Davis and Blaine Ricketts also earned All-OAC honors.
Davis finished ninth with a 74-75-72-76—297 and Ricketts was 10th with a 73-75-76-74—298.
The top 10 finishers and ties earn All-Conference accolades.
Otterbein won the team title with a 1152. John Carroll was third with an 1194, Mount Union was fourth with an 1200 and Baldwin Wallace was fifth with a 1201.
OU's David Monaco won Medalist honors with a 10-under par 278.
