Ricketts earns Medalist honors, leads Men's Golf to second place finish at Heidelberg Spring Invitational

TIFFIN — Junior Blaine Ricketts fired a 2-under par 70 to rally for Medalist honors and lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a second place finish on the final day of the Heidelberg Spring Invitational Sunday at Mohawk Country Club.
The Polar Bears (25-13-1 overall) finished with a 310-301—611 in the six-team field. Tiffin won the team title with a 303-305—608, Baldwin Wallace was third with a 307-312—619 and John Carroll was fourth with a 317-3121—629.
Ricketts won the individual title by two strokes after starting the day five strokes behind.
Senior Rick Deichert finished fifth out of 47 golfers with a 77-74—151 on the par-72, 6705-yard course.
Freshman Nick Anderson tied for sixth wth a 78-75—153, sophomore Zach Goodchild tied for ninth with a 75-79—154 and junior Tyler Davis tied for 20th with an 81-78—159.
The Polar Bears will conclude their regular season April 29-May 1 with the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at the River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ohio.
