Men's Golf finishes second of 5 at ONU Spring Equinox Classic

HARROD — The Ohio Northern men's golf team finished second of five teams at the 2015 ONU Spring Equinox Classic at Colonial Golfers Club Saturday and Sunday.
The Polar Bears (24-15 overall) finished with a 315 on Saturday's first round.
The second round was canceled after just a few holes due to poor course conditions Sunday morning.
ONU sophomore Blaine Ricketts tied for Medalist honors with Zack Griffith of Columbus State CC with a 3-over par 75s on the 6,886-yard, par-72 layout.
Griffith won the tiebreaker with a better front 9 to win the Medalist title.
Junior Rick Deichert tied for eighth out of 32 golfers with a 79, senior Colin Burns tied for 11th with an 80 and senior Ryan Wirtz tied for 13th with an 81.
The ONU "B" team carded a 320, led by freshmen Zach Goodchild and Tim Monroe with 78s and sophomore Tyler Davis with a 79.
Columbus State CC won the team title with a 312, Defiance was third with a 324, Heidelberg was fourth with a 336 and Marygrove (Mich.) was fifth with a 370.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Thursday and Friday at the Capital Invitational.
