Lambert, Davis lead Men's Golf to fifth place finish at OAC Spring Invitational

GALENA -- Sophomore Brandon Lambert and freshman Tyler Davis each carded 161s to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a fifth place finish at the 2014 OAC Spring Invitational Sunday and Monday at the Royal American Links.

The Polar Bears (30-40-2 overall) finished tied for fifth with Mount Union with 650 strokes.

Otterbein won the 36-hole tournament with a 632, Capital was second with a 636 and John Carroll was third with a 639.

Lambert and Davis finished tied for 13th out of 44 golfers with 17-over par 161s on the 6,859-yard course.

Freshman Blaine Ricketts tied for 17th with a 163, sophomore Rick Deichert tied for 24th with a 167 and junior Ted Loewendick tied for 31st with a 169.

Adam Sanders of Baldwin Wallace won Medalist honors with a 151.

The scores of the Spring Invitational are combined with the Fall Invitational to determine the OAC Regular Season title.

ONU finished sixth with 1,258 strokes for the entire 72 holes.

Otterbein won with a 1,210; Capital was second with a 1,240 and John Carroll was third with a 1,241.

The Polar Bears will wrap up their regular season at the Wooster Invitational Friday and Saturday.
