Junior Aron Thress named the OAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

ADA – Ohio Northern junior Aron Thress was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of February 15-21.
Thress has seen action in 49 games in the post and has led the team in blocked shots in each of his first two seasons as a Polar Bear. He averages 17.5 ppg and 7.4 rpg this season.
The Ohio Northern men's basketball team defeated the Heidelberg Student Princes with a victory of 77-74 last Wednesday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.
Thress led the way for the Polar Bears with a game-high 25 points and a career-high 18 rebounds. The junior also connected on 15-of-17 free throw attempts, including 8-of-8 in the final eight minutes of regulation.
Continuing their streak, the Polar Bears achieved another victory against Muskingum Saturday afternoon at the Muskingum Recreation Center, beating the Fighting Muskies 85-74.
Northern was led in the contest by Thress, recording his third consecutive double-double, scoring a game-high 22 points, and snagging a game-high 15 rebounds.
The Polar Bears improved to 11-12 overall and 8-8 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
Northern returns to action Wednesday at 7:30 pm as they travel to Berea to take on Baldwin Wallace.
