OAC and NCAC to honor Capital head coach Damon Goodwin during Suits and Sneakers Week
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference and the North Coast Athletic Conference will be partnering to raise funds and awareness of cancer during Suits and Sneakers Week to honor Capital University head coach Damon Goodwin.
The week of Jan. 25-30 marks the National Association of Basketball Coaches' Suits and Sneakers Week, which promotes cancer awareness and raises funds for research. This week-long event is part of a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the NABC called Coaches vs. Cancer.
As a part of the NABC's efforts, members of the OAC and NCAC will team up to raise funds in the name of Capital head coach Damon Goodwin, who is battling leukemia. The funds raised during that six-day span will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) in his name.
Ohio Northern will contribute to the cause during its men's basketball game with Otterbein on Wednesday.
In addition, OAC and NCAC coaches will be wearing orange ties and sneakers on Wednesday and again during Saturday's games. All of this is being done as a show of support for Coach Goodwin, his family and the cause.
All donations are tax deductible and go to support LLS research, patient services, advocacy, education, and community services. Please visit lls.org to for more information and to donate online.
